The ECOBOTICS.SEA project was represented by Donato Romano (partner from SSSA, Italy) as co-organizer of the workshop “Biohybrids Through Organism-Technology Interactions” at UNIGRAZ (18th—19th February 2024). In addition, he was the Keynote Lecturer at the Winter School On Modelling And Measuring Biohybrid Multi-Level Complex Systems (20th—23th February 2024), with the talk “From life-like to living technologies – the new frontiers of bionics science and technology”.
As already reported, our ECOBOTICS.SEA project was present at EMRA 2023 – “Workshop on EU-funded Marine Robotics and Applications”,in Šibenik, Croatia, from 20 to 21 June 2023. You can now download the proceedings on the webpage https://emra-2023.marinerobotics.eu/proceedings-published/.
While we wait for next year’s EMRA (2024) in Arenzano, Italy (28-29 May), please check out a couple of related events taking place still this year:
“Breaking the Surface” in Kumbor, Montenegro, 24th September – 1st October (early bird registration until 31st July); https://bts.fer.hr/; organized by some of the projects that organized
EMRA Marine Robotics School in Goa, India, 20th-25th November; https://ecobotics.isr.uc.pt/MRS2023/; organized by the Ecobotics.sea project presented at EMRA.
Gianluca Manduca, a PhD student at our consortium member SSSA in Pisa, will present a paper at the conference Living Machines 2023 in the aquarium of Genova. Check it out: https://livingmachinesconference.eu/2023/.
Dr. Donato Romano, from our consortium member SSSA, co-organizes the special session “Bioinspired Engineering, Soft Robotics and Bio-hybrid Technologies as new Frontiers in Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Management” at the IEEE Metrology for Agriculture and Forestry, that will take place from 6 to 8 November 6-8 2023 in Pisa, Italy. Recently, Tridivisions‘ Jürgen Bund visited our project partner evologics GmbH at their headquarters in Berlin. Jürgen Bund got a first-hand and detailed insight in the newest developments at evologics, such as the Quadroin AUV that you can see on the photo (Prof. Rudolf Bannasch, the company founder in the middle; Dr. Fabian Bannasch, CEO, on the right). After that, all three discussed the alignment of the company’s strategy with the goals of the project, from which derived new exploitation lines. The main one is related to ecosystem monitoring in sweet water environments such rivers, lakes, dams, swamps, etc., which initially wasn’t part of the project’s goals. The visit also served for addressing VoC (Voice of the Customer) aspects and how evologics incorporates these into their product development processes. Finally, Ideas for follow-up R&D and innovation projects were outlined, and which would benefit from using ECOBOTICS.SEA as a ramp-up and promotional platform. A bi-/multilateral follow-up meeting for the second half of this year has already been agreed.
Our ECOBOTICS.SEA project will be present at EMRA 2023 – “Workshop on EU-funded Marine Robotics and Applications”.
EMRA is an event co-organized by several EU-funded projects (MONUSEN, UWIN-LABUST, MARBLE, INNOVAMARE) which will be held in Šibenik, Croatia, from 20 to 21 June 2023. This event aims to gather the European community of Marine robotics, in particular the main EU-funded on-going projects. We would be delighted to meet you at EMRA!Stay tuned to this page. We will publish the event’s web site address as soon as available. In order to get an idea of the typical format of EMRA events, you can visit the web site of the 2021 edition.
Recently, Dr. Donato Romano and Prof. Cesare Stefanini from our consortium member SSSA, more specifically, its BioRobotics Institute, published a paper about the “Development of a Novel Underactuated Robotic Fish with Magnetic Transmission System”. The paper was published by MDPi and can be downloaded for free here.
